主讲人/Biography:

Dr. Chen is a professor/senior researcher fellow at the School of Physics, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and Hefei National Laboratory. His research focuses on ultra-cold atom physics and quantum metrology. Publications by Dr. Chen include over 40 papers in international top-tier journals such as Science (2), Nature (1), Nature Physics (4), Physical Review Letters (13) and other prestigious academic journals. In 2020, he received national outstanding young scientist fund support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Currently he services as the project leader in the "High Precision Inertial Measurement Devices and Atomic Interferometric Gravime-ters Based on Cold Atom Interference" project under the Innovation Program for Quantum Science and Technology, China (Grant No.2021ZD0300601).

摘要/Abstract:

Precision measurement of gravitational acceleration has significant applications in fundamental science, land surveying, earthquake prediction and prevention, navigation, and positioning. With the development of techniques for preparing and controlling cold atoms, interferometric methods based on cold atoms have seen rapid development and are now approaching maturity. In recent years, researchers at University of Science and Technology of China (USTC)/Hefei National Laboratory have developed a high-precision, compact cold atom interferometric gravimeter that is easy to move. Key indicators of this device surpass those of classical laser interferometric gravimeters and are on par with international leading levels. It has passed the 2021-2022 field tests conducted by the Earth Physics Equipment Acceptance Testing Team at the China Earthquake Administration. Based on these achievements, a series of field demonstration experiments using the device in various locations and absolute gravimeter comparisons have demonstrated the unique characteristics and advantages of cold atom gravimeters.

Potential applications of cold atom gravimeter technology can be expanded in multiple scenarios:

1.High-precision fixed-point gravimeters: Real-time gravitational measurements at high precision to establish a gravity reference network;

2.Dynamic gravimeters/gravitometers: Implementing shipborne/airborne measurements for gravity maps and autonomous navigation;
